
Q1 Gut Check: 15 Things I’ve Tackled in 2025. How’s Your List Going?
This column isn’t about bragging. I’m not trying to flex. I’m simply sharing some facts, starting with this big one:
If a guy like me—galactically insecure, perpetually anxious, and often haunted by imposter syndrome—can do this at 52, then trust me, you’ve got a shot too. I’m not someone who’s had it all together since day one. Or college. Or at any time in my 30s and early 40s, frankly.
I’m just a regular midlife man who came to the realization one day at 47 (after an intense, debilitating panic attack in my car outside my office) and decided to stop asking, “Why not me?” with a pitiful shrug, and started demanding, “Why not ME?” with a fire in my gut.
That tiny shift—flipping the script in my head—changed everything. When you start believing that what you want isn’t just a pipe dream, but something real, something probable—the way you want to live, feel, look, act, operate, the people you want in your corner, the stuff that actually matters to you—it’s like unlocking a cheat code. And the best part? You don’t have to wait for permission or a perfect moment. You just start acting like it’s already yours, one messy, determined day at a time. Over weeks, months, years… the results are pretty damn remarkable.
I’m living proof you don’t need all the answers (or any) or a trust fund or the perfect guru or the premium weekend retreat to take control of midlife. All it takes is a little grit, a little belief, and the guts to just start.
With that in mind, I wanted to share what I tackled in Q1 2025 to let you know that the only difference between me 5 years ago (who would have dreamed of doing these things) and me now, who actually did them, is that I got off my ass and made them happen:

That’s my Q1 Gut Check—15 things I tackled so far in 2025. If I could go back in time and share this with 47-year-old me, I know I’d have said “future me” was full of shit. No way we did all this; no less in 90 days, But I did.
