We all get busy, have a lot going on and it’s easy to get distracted, consumed, caught up in our day-to-day, and become overwhelmed with all the “things” going on around us.
We feel the pressure to go faster, do more, hustle, grind, keep up, overtake and focus on the destination and achieving our “goals”, rather than the journey itself.
So much so, that we often forget to just simply have a nice day.
More often than not, that’s enough.
Enough to change our mood, put things back in perspective, breathe, practice gratitude, and be thankful and appreciative for what we do have in our lives, rather than what we do not.
Here are some very basic things I do to have a nice day:
- Get a good night’s sleep
- Wake up without an alarm clock
- Kiss my wife
- Have breakfast as a family
- See the kids off to school
- Exercise
- Put in a good day’s work
- Walk my dogs
- Take a bath
- Have a clean, simple dinner
- Call, text, or write a nice note to a couple of friends
- Get into bed early with a good book or movie
It doesn’t need to be more complicated than that.
A subtle shift in mindset towards valuing what is present and right in front of you and maximizing the life you’re living, not the one you’re chasing.
A nice house, cars to drive, great kids, good health, a few bucks in the bank, fun experiences with family and friends, great food on the table.
Keep it simple.
Have a nice day!
